Last week, our brand new sensory pod opened in the atrium of the children’s hospital, thanks to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity and the MAPP Charitable Foundation.
With hundreds of children and young people attending the hospital every day for outpatient appointments, the pod will offer a calming and relaxing space for patients who may otherwise feel overwhelmed as they wait. It will also help to support children with autism, ADHD or sensory issues.
Senior Outpatient Charge Nurse, Mhairi Stirrat said: “For some of our patients, waiting for their appointments can be a scary experience. It’s our hope that the Sensory Pod will help children and young people to feel safe and happy within the hospital.”
